Air Baltic

This has to be one of the of the worse airlines for routes. Everything seems to have to go through riga. We fly dublin-vilnius and trying to get a direct flight is a matter of luck and hope the price isnt a rip off. Just checked flights for vilnius-palanga return. have to go through Riga. so trip takes 6 hours up and 8 hours back and the pricely sum of 700 euro.

Well Vilnius is much better connected than it was a couple of years ago when there was no connections direct to almost any major European City. Now Air Baltic & Star1 fly out of Vilnius and Ryanair fly from Kaunas .....

And 700€ seems a good price point for anyone really wanting to fly from Vilnius to Palanga... stupid price for a stupid route :) Take the coach :)

Are you going from Dublin to Palanga? 700 euro? Who would do that???

You can fly from Dublin to Kaunas Ryan Air. Then take a 3 hour train from Kaunas to Kretinga, then a 10 minute taxi Kreting to Palanga. Dublin to Palanga ROUND TRIP will cost you about euro 200!

no not flying dublin palanga. Having wedding in vilnius next year and group of us after going to palanga after thought it might be just as easy to fly from vilnius but a 700 quid 8 hour trip can be easily done in hire cars in 3 hours

I understand. But like Kiltman, I am finding more and more operators offering direct flights from Vilnius and amazingly the prices are very low. It is getting better and better. Last year when FlyLAL vanished there were so few direct flights anywhere. This year there seem to be quite a few and the prices are pretty good.

Without a real national airline, it is certainly not ideal. But the situation is improving and it is only a matter of time before more carriers come to Vilnius.

If you are flying from Dublin, why not fly Ryan air to Kaunas? You can take the shuttle to Vilnius, or rent a car and drive. Booking in advance, flights are amazingly cheap on Ryan Air.
